First of all, I'm way oblivious when it come to this, and so really I'm just looking for some good ideas, and maybe for somebody to point me into the right direction as to where to look to get started.
Situation: My father is currently putting an addition onto his home, and part of that will be a new Family Room. He's asked me to research for him a little about audio systems. He'll be purchasing a Plasma Flat Screen TV or something similar, and wants to have an adaquate sound system to go with it. He expressed the desire to have the speakers in the ceiling. He's not at all hard-core into a sound system, so something simple will work.
A few of my questions are:
1. Are there any pro's or con's to installing a system into the ceiling?
2. There's a great possibility he'll want to change things up in his room, ie. moving the t.v. from one wall to another (see attached drawing). Is this possible with speakers installed in the ceiling, or is he better off having portable ones?
3. Speakers... Do they plug into the t.v. directly, or would he need to look into getting some other equipment?
That's about all the questions I have until I more fully understand what I need to be looking into.
