So I have no Idea what im doing and i would really like some help with this... i have a living room that is a good 20' x 17' space and im looking at trying to get a subwoofer for my ht and i have little knowledge about what i need. Obviously like us all i want it to make a thunderous boom on movie explosions and also play well for all types of music. Sorry for not all the information ill get it all for you in a later post. The system that i have is very clear sounding and nice for as old as it is. The Bose Speakers i purchased were at Best Buy and it was Just for some cheap Surrounds to get me by. the Technics are i wanna say arround 80's time frame but are still in mint condition with no dents in the woofers. to be more clear they are some Three foot tower Speakers that include the woofer mids and tweeters. All in all im looking for a decent Sub that is around $100-200 and i know its hard when the best i can find are some polk 12's on Amazon for $100. Thanks For Some Help!!

My Setup:
T.V.: Samsung 40" LCD
Reciever: Pioneer Elite VSX-09tx
Center spk: Bose
L&R: Technics
LR & RR: Bose

Please don't take offense to this, but you would be better off with nothing then with Polk subwoofers. Try Craiglist in your area and pick something up used.

I completely agree here. $200 is a tough budget, but it can be done. Take a look at partsexpress.com and look at the Sub120. It won't knock your socks off, but it is a better start than polk.

There is an Emotiva Ultra 10 in the classifieds here for a good price too. A little over your budget, but you won't be shopping for a new sub in a few years either.

Check out a Used Mirage Omni S12. Great 12 inch ported sub, they can be found for around 200-300 dollars and I can testify it hits clean and hard and will go down to about 19hz

The Lava LSP10 is a sub that can be had for $245 plus 15% AVS or Blu-ray.com discount if you become a member to either forum:

http://www.lavasubs.com/10_inch/powered_home_subwoofer.html

Or the Acoustic Audio HD sub-12

http://www.thedeepdiscount.com/p-3748-acoustic-audio-hd-sub12-cherry-800w-12-home-theater-powered-subwoofer.aspx

Or the Klipsh Sub 10:

Or the BIC V1220 which is Comparable to the F12:

Any of these will be an improvement over you old HTiB sub. I would guess the Lava would have the best SQ for music while the other 12 inch subs will dig deeper for HT. What ever you choose should make YOU happy at least for now.:)

Don't feel bad. I've been saving for the past three months and won't have the money for mine till June. Granted what I want cost $2100.

I'm not feeling bad i know that i need to go bigger and better and my price range is a little small, I've lived with my system for so long i think i can live a little longer and go big for a $500-600 sub
