Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a good home theater system which is under $680. I have been to many shops here in Dubai and I haven't found anything more impressive than what I currently own here in my house. At the moment, I own a Yamaha amp RX-V630 with a combination of Yamaha NSP 320 speakers. I also own a pair of Jamo E-530 speakers and a JBL Digital 12 Sub woofer. Now, I'm looking for a set which will give way better performance than what I currently own. I want a Home-Theater system that performs well when playing music, movies is not necessary. Can anyone recommend me what I should really look for?
Thanks in Advance.

Maybe you just need a good 2.1 system for music. 2.1 means left/right and sub. Start looking for good bookshelf speakers since you have everything else. You should be able to find something, maybe not for less than $600.00. I thought Dubai was upscale, you can't find speakers there?

Thanks for the reply, Ric :)
Oh yes, now I change my mind to buy a 2.1 system. I already have bookshelf speakers, I need tower speakers now. Can anyone tell me which is a good 2.1 system under 500$?
Dubai is rich but when it comes to electronics and technology, it is way behind. You hardly get speakers, cables and amplifiers here in stores.

What brands are available over there?
Paradigm, Klipsch Reference, Energy, etc.?

Jamo speakers are supposed to be pretty good. How about a pair of floorstanders and a center channel to go with your current pair of bookshelf speakers.

Paradigm, Klipsch Reference, and Energy are not available here. I have been to almost every electrical store here. And this is what I find - Wharfdale, Jamo, Tannoy, Yamaha, JBL, Pioneer, LG, Sony, Bose, Infinity, Denon, Boston, Onkyo, Harman Kardon, Samsung and a few more.

I already own Jamo speakers but the problem is, i do not get proper sound when I connect it to my Yamaha amp. But now I have it connected to my Sony system and it plays well. That is why I'm planning on to purchase a new set. So I was thinking which ones would be a good system for music from the brands that I mentioned above, I guess?

The first three brands (Whardale, Jamo, and Tannoy) are probably your best bet. There might be a higher end line of JBL speakers that would also be decent. Most of the other companies are know for manufacturing electronics and not speakers. Several of them make entry level HTIB type speakers.

See how much a pair of Tannoy Eyris DC1 will run your for starters. Make sure you check out the DC version with the dual concentric drivers and not the C version.
