Ok,

I have been looking for some new speakers for my 20 year old 2 channel system, but I'm having a hard time trying to determine what way to go. Plan is some time down the road to move to and home theater setup, but I first what to focus on new speakers first.

My current setup is Yamaha M80 amp, and Yamaha C80 Pre-amp, there is other equipment but figured these two is what everyone would what to know for speaker suggestions.

I have looked at System Audio 1750's, B&W and will be looking at DynAudio soon. I really do not what to go over $2.5k, but would if I hear something I really liked.

Suggestion/comments

Thanks
Alan

At the risk of sounding like a walking Axiom ad, check out their packages at axiomaudio.com.

You can get an entire HT package for under $2500. I have the M60's & find them to be an excellent speaker @ a great price. They're not the best mind you, but worth a look................

If you're just looking for a pair of mains check out the Paradigm Studio series(60's, 80's, 100's). Haven't owned a pr but have listened to them & they're a superb sounding speaker. Should be able to get them under your $ limit.

Is that $2.5 for a pair? Or for a whole set?

If a pair, LOTS of nice choices, ones that I've personally liked include Energy Veritas, Paradigm Signature S4, Martin Logan, Vandersteen, Monitor Audio. Also check out Totem while you are at it.

For that kind of dough, I would suggest Ohm, Vandersteen, Meadowlark, Green Mountain Audio or Dynaudio. (With the exception of Dynaudio), I really get behind the time coherent designs available today. It's hard to design a time coherent speaker, but in you're price range design, materials and workmanship really start to come together for a natural sounding, involving and musical speaker.
