I am trying to start a home theater/whole home audio company and I am being overwhelmed by the number of manufacturers out there. What are y'all's favorite: Receiver, speakers, dvd players, and automation systems

Thanks

You're going to get 99 answers from 99 people.

Start out identifying what your needs are:

- Budget? (be willing to be flexible on this)
- How big is the room it will be going in?
- 5.1? 7.1?
- Are you doing a TV or a PJ and screen?
- How many people?
- Any particular features you need?

At least that will help pare things down a little bit.

Seriously, I have no life.

Are you sure you want to start such a company? Probably lots of work. How is the competition in your area? Out of the area?
What clientele are you after?

As to home audio/HT components, you cannot go wrong with the ones this site reviews, discusses or recommends.
Try not to get involved with the 'snake oil' types out there.

My apologies for my previous response. I misread your post.

IMO the most important things are:

- What range of theaters are you wanting to do? What 'class' of customers are you dealing with? That will help determine what's best to carry.

- IMPORTANT! - What is the reliability of the product and the vendor you'll be purchasing from? When you have a problem (and you will) with a piece of equipment, can you get it serviced quickly or is it a long drawn out process that can take weeks (and seriously hack of customer! leading to a bad reputation that falls on YOU).

- What kind of ordering requirements are there? Do you have to carry their whole line or just what you want? Can you order 'onesies' as you need them or do you have to warehouse things?
