Looking for opinions on Cerwin Vega Speakers

I currently Have 6.5" Cerwin Vega Front Speakers E706A that I purchased at Sears back in the year 2000 on Clearance. These Speakers are powered by an Onkyo Receiver TX-SR705 that I paid about $1000 for at Circuit City back in 2004 or 2005 before they went out of business. It was an open box price when HDMI first came out commercially. Both of these items have served me well as the Speakers can handle some abuse as every other brand speaker it abused didn't last long. I really do not have the money nowadays to afford what I really want. So my question is for those of you that live for audio is: 1.)Why do I not see Cerwin Vega listed anywhere as one of the Highest rated brands? 2.) What do you think of Cerwin Vega Speakers overall? and 3.)What do you think about the more affordable SL Series Speakers. This would be for Home Theatre and Music as I would move my current speakers to the rear or side surround. Back in 1995 when I first began driving I could remember Cerwin Vega being a top brand, one I couldn't afford. I will gladly consider all opinions. Thank you all

CW is mostly regarded as a party speaker or something for loud rock or heavy metal. One the occasions that they have been measured, they were found not to be the most accurate speakers, to put it mildly. They are very efficient and can get very loud without needing a lot of current. If you like your music really loud and like the aggressive stylings of CW's speakers, I say go for them. However, I think conventional loudspeaker designs can get more than loud enough for most people's tastes. CW's pro-audio products do enjoy a better reputation than their home audio products.

i have a set, they came with the wife and they are great they produce a lot of base , I do agree they are a party speaker
Mine take up a lot of space I had then hooked up with my klipschs for rear speakers but the couch blocked all the mid and high sound
I put them in the shop because of that and the klipschs i like a horn tweeter style or brighter loudspeaker my self

My friend loves those things and it makes him mad i have them hooked up in my shop to bad era cheap Yamaha receiver that is not enough for them , I told him i would buy them an amp for Xmas to make him feel better , he gives me hell every time he comes over and threatens to steel them

Nothing wrong with old school ,

CVs are OK. They were POPULAR; they were never a TOP brand. I got a pair free with an amp I bought and I used them for a while. Not total garbage, but I wouldn't exactly recommend them for serious listening.
