edit: The earbuds I am looking for are not noise-isolating style.

TL:DR - Need old fashioned style earbuds, not noise isolating style. Want high quality for all types of music. Thank you!

Hello, I need help! Over the years I have been using earbuds mostly with various mp3 players (sony usually) and things were great until about 10 years ago when the quality started to decline with the introduction of the ultra high-end in-ear style closed earbuds, and now I am unable to find anything quality and my sets are almost worn out and ready to be thrown away. The reason I don't wear the in-ear ones is because I just can't. I must have a weird ear shape or something, as they are incredibly uncomfortable to wear. I have checked out at least a dozen different brands, all high quality >$100 sets which did not work out and I had to return them.

Now onto what I do like. The old sony nwz mp3 players used to come with really nice earbuds with a decent driver. Good bass, good sound, full, and the sound reproduced with the player made my traveling music experience fantastic. Sony swears up and down that the earbuds they sell in stores are the same, yet they really aren't... they have awful sound, distorted bass, super cheap construction. I believe the last time they made decent earbuds were with 828's or something like that.

So I am looking for something for good mids, good highs (but not too bright), and some bass (Sennheiser ones I have tried out have terrible bass). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Budget is whatever.

Apple Earpods.
I almost completely forgot about these. They have a unique design and don't exactly plug in the ears like the noise-isolation style. Thanks, I will see if these would work.

Thank you for suggesting these, I have heard of them before and they sound great.. unfortunately they are the style that just don't work in my ears. Sometimes I do not write things to clearly, but thank you for the suggestion anyways.

Those Koss clip-ons are outstanding at their price, they sound way, way too good for something so cheap.

In the end I found the Sony 828 was available online. Received them already and tested them out with some very quiet and detailed music. These are absolutely incredible, and definitely the best deal I will find for traditional earbud style. They are not as bright as the sennheiser mx170 I was using before, and far more accurate and detailed sound. I noticed a few instruments I could not hear previously. Try these out if you didn't find the traditional earbud style too annoying. Thank you for all of your replies.

In the past I had some JVC Gumy earbuds (yes seriously JVC) that were fantastic. They won't blow your mind or anything, but for less than $10 it's pretty tough to beat. If you lose them or break them, oh well. CNET has also given them solid reviews the last couple years as well. Good luck!
