Audiophyte
Hey all! I am looking for some help to level up as an audiophyte.

What I presently have:

2x JBL Professional Studio Monitor, 8-Inch (308PMKII) - connected to a Yamaha CP4 keyboard

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System - connected to main PC

I also have a Steinberg UR22 mkII interface that was previously bridging the PC with a studio microphone via XLR. I had some problem with the interface that I no longer remember and got a Pyle XLR to USB converter for it instead.

...nothing else. The TV is a 55" from Costco and just chillin' with onboard sound. Oh, and some decent headphones and some Alexa devices all over the place.

I recently "discovered" subwoofers. That Klipsch system was an eye-opener! I have been looking on-and-off for info on what to buy, but am honestly quite a bit overwhelmed. I know enough that I am prepared to spend a significant amount of $$ on a quality subwoofer or two, also to avoid Bose and soundbars. Past that, it's almost like there is TOO MUCH information and too many options!

Say I have a budget of $1,500 to $2,000 and I would like to achieve the following:

  • WAP. She is picky and feisty. And does not care too much about sound. The TV is her domain, I rarely watch it. But it is also the family room where we entertain on occasion and stream music, etc. There is no bass.
  • Computer audio - I spend like 80% of my time in my home office so this is actually my primary consideration. I like the Klipsch, but would actually almost rather give it to the queen (if she will take it - she is violently opposed to wires floating around etc) to get even more bass.
  • Keyboard audio - the Yamaha is in the same room as my home office (approx 220 sq ft). The JBLs are doing a fine job, however it just dawned on me that it is silly for me to have these fine specimens literally behind where I work, but only connected to the keyboard! On same token, I have the baby sub that comes with the Klipsch and it does nothing for the Yamaha. But I just don't have enough time to figure out exactly how to connect / bridge all of this stuff together.
  • TV / family room - the queen is likely only going to "allow" an in-wall system to be set up here. I am thinking that just about anything is better than the current, but again, am not clear on where to start and focus. Maybe the JBLs end up here along with a $500 sub, and remainder of budget goes to home office, Klipsch going to garage or relegated to "support"?
Suggestions? Seems like I will need two amplifiers / control hubs. Or can I possibly run the home office system from my PC via a dedicated sound card? I have other reasons to connect the PC to the Yamaha (Garritan CFX for one). Honestly don't know why I never even thought of this! Further, it just dawned on me that I could be using the Klipsch sub while wearing headphones, which I on occasion use on both the PC and Yamaha. What should I do?!
