First Off, welcome to Audioholics Carl....

Maybe a couple of questions.... do you listen to mostly Music or movies?

What other equipment are you running....? Does looks matter to you...?

You have a fairly small room, so you won't need all that much of a sub...

Another option and great bang for your buck is in the HSU Subs... VTF-2 MK3 right at your price range... SVS has great subs... I have 2, but they are a bit more $$, Im thinking for the looks... Small incremental increases in your budget can make a huge difference as well...
I would definately go for ID brands over the B&M brands.... more for your money...

hello,

my receiver is still being decided on, as are my loudspeakers. the TV is the 47" 1080p westy monitor. im new to audio aspect of it all and the vast market is very overwhelming.

i called HSU and spoke to a fellow there, he actually reccomended the VTF-1 over the mk3 (since i dont use listen to much stereo)

ive also looked further into the svs units (the PCi's)

looks arent huge but id like black in color.

ID brands ?? B&M ???

thanks

I think a PB-10NSD from SVS would do just fine in that room.

I believe SVS and HSU shook up the subwoofer category quite a bit with low cost/high performance subwoofers. I've directly seen a shift in the approach to this category in the last 2 years from more than one manufacturer. I think its great.

I currently run an SVS PB-Ultra/2 and it's my fourth SVS.

Bigger is always better.... if you think you have enough, for a home theater, you will always wish you went bigger....

PB12-NSD, 20-39 PCi

I bought a Plus/2 and then I added a Plus... worked so nice in my huge room, but I ended up getting hooked on the subwoofer bug, and bought some 15" drivers and Im going to make my own subs, and see how much better DIY (do it yourself) will be...

Go just a touch bigger then you are thinking about, and you be less likely to want to upgrade... Just one mans opinion...

From what I've read, I doubt that you could go wrong with Hsu or SVS (or Onix), so a fine choice. I got my first SVS on Monday, and their customer service has been outstanding...both prior to and after the sale. I have no real experience with the other companies, but I've read good things about them.

I think the VTF-2 MK3 is a good choice. The PB-10 or a PB-12 would be as well; it just comes down to a personal preference appearance wise because performance wise you won't be disappointed either way. I've owned subs from both companies and I was impressed with both.
