looking for Bookshelf speakers in the $300 range

I think I made a common mistake? I needed some bookshelf speakers in the $300 range so I went to best buy and bought a set of klipsch VB - 15. As I am looking around I am beginning to get the feeling I could have done much better at that price point.

Namely the HSU HB -1

any other thoughts?

I can return the klipsch (and am seriously considering it) looking forward to some sage advice.

thanks

Do a search on bookshelf in topics only and you will come up with a couple of great threads that happened recently. There are a ton of choices that will give you a better speaker for your money.

Could you provide a few links by any chance? I tried doing a search but I have no idea what words to use.

I use Infinity Beta 20s they are going on Ebay for around 50 each these days, but they are heavy for bookshelves which is why they are so cheap.

rekced. Go to the search page and do the following:
1. in the keyword box (top left of search page) type - bookshelf
2. in the dropdown below the keyword box select 'search in titles only'
3. in the forums box (bottom right) select the speaker forum
4. go nuts on the results.

Sometimes key words can be tricky, but in this case it is strait forward.

I've never heard the HSU's, but they're probably pretty decent. Here are my usual recommendations:

Ascend
Axiom
Av123
Monitor Audio
PSB

There are so many others. Do you like how the Klipsch sound? If not, what don't you like about them?

Also check out the Boston CS 26 if you can find them.

Type in Jamo C603 into the search function and see what has been written about them. Then you could decide if you want to audition them.

Try and audition as many bookshelf speakers as possible, so you can find the sound you prefer...the sound that suits your tastes and listening environment...best.
