Currently examining:
* Act6, would probably add punchier center and move the extra sat to 6.1
* Procinema 60 or 80, not sure if a 120 sf room needs the 80
* TSS 750
* (Listened to the RM6800s, but didn't like the sound).

Budget is flexible, but a smooth wall mount is key. Power to burn at the receiver.

Mostly for movies.

Forgot to mention KEF KHT2005.2 , B&W MT20 or MT30, and Atlantic Technology 1200 (sound and vision recently did a review on this system).

If you are looking for affordable, but still good, then go with the tss750. The are nice and small, and very punchy. They have have a good crisp quality. KEF, b&W would be over the top. The Def Tech's are a good value too

I would take a look at the ascend HT-200's. They are wall mountable and are said to pack a punch.

Also look at the HTD middies. Both of these options are returnable in 30 days if you don't like them.

I liked the reviews for the Ventriloquists, ('specially the sub), but I can't wire the fronts to the center unit, without tearing out some drywall. Room is already wired for standard 5.1.

Since my local CompUsa (go figure) has the TSS 750 on sale for $425 *and* I can return it up to 21 days *after* Christmas, I think I'll give it a try and see if it fits the bill.

While online indications don't seem the Infinity will be quite as aesthetically seamless as the Act6, at least I can try it out on the cheap.

BTW, as a newbie, is it proper etiquette here to follow up posts like this with ultimate resolution and sound impressions or to not muddle up the threads?

Thanks all.

I feel a little like a broken record, but have you considered the Monitor Audio Radius series? Serious good looks, serious good sound. The 180, 225, and 250 are all front ported, come with mounting brackets. Your choice of real wood veneers in great lookng finishes, or Black, White, or Silver Lacquer for a more high tech look.

If you decide you want a floorstander for the fronts, the 270 fits the bill. The subs have the same look with the same veneer or lacquer finish.

SVS bookshelf system

I have heard good things about the new SVS bookshelf surround sound system. It comes paired with their 10" sub. Might be a good option depending on your budget.
