Looking for advice on optimizing new TV

I am the happy new owner of a Hitachi 50VS810 50 inch LCD rear projection HDTV. I bought after quite a bit of research and I was sold on its superior out of the box picture and it's dual HDMI inputs. I have no complaints with the set (other than the price I paid which I know realize I could have done better). The set will be the center place of my new home theater in my new house I will be buying within the next few months.

My only real question is which of the DVD products out there is best to use for optimizing LCD rear projection TVs? This website loves the Avia DVDs, but I am wondering if anyone out there has the same set and has an experence with any of the DVDs. I will be buying a reciever and 7.1 speaker set up eventually as well (leaning towards Yamaha 4600 and Axiom right now, this site has truly corrupted me :) ) so the audio optimizing abilities also need to be considered.

Any advice that can be given on the DVDs, my TV, or my future system would be apprecated!

Of the three major offernings (Sound & Vision Tune Up Disk, Avia and Video Essentials) the Avia offers the best compromise of utility and ease of use...IMO. The S&V disk is the least expensive but not as comprehensive and the VE is more difficult to navigate.

DVE is a little tough to navigate, but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty comprehensive. My best advice is to get a friend to buy one and you buy another, then trade.

Not sure about netflix, but Blockbuster online has both AVIA and DVE...good thing I found that out before I bought them!

I think thats pushing it Spiffy. I surely would not join a club for 1 disc, and a set-up disc for that matter. Specially since this should be in your personal collection at all times.....
