i'm currently planing on buying 2 RTi12's fro my fronts, CSi5 for my center, PSW505 for my sub and probably going to buy RTi6 for my back, and buy a quality dvd player.I've been looking around for a recevicer but i dont really know much about them, (im fairly new to home theater) So i was woundering if i could get a few recommendations for my system. im hoping not to pay much more then around $1500(canadain) on one, but will spend a bit more if needed.

From what I have been told on here you are going to need something very powerful to run those RTi12's. I would pm buckeye. He has been extremely helpful with me when I was considering the same speakers you are. I ended up getting the 505 sub but went with less power hungry speakers for the rest. Good luck

It's not so much wattage as current. They are 4ohm speakers and dip lower. You will have to make sure your amp/reciever is stable into low impendance loads which pretty much means a flagship reciever or seperate amplification.

Hi boxx2carey. I've got a few of questions for you. What made you decide on these Polks, where are you looking at buying them, what is the cost, and what other speakers have you demoed? I'm asking because it sounds like you've been to Futureshop and I'm wondering if you've been anywhere else. Don't get me wrong I think that those Polks are decent speakers, but they aren't my cup of tea and I don't like a lot of futureshop's upselling techniques. You said you are pretty new to HT so a word of advice is stay away from Monster Cable products. There is nothing wrong with them except the price, but you can get just as good for a fifth the cost. Don't buy a Harman Kardon receiver from futureshop. The 635 that they sell for $1800 has a street price of $700 US in the states from authorized dealers. My suggestion to you if you stick with the Polk speakers would be to buy a Yamaha 2500 for about $800 CDN and then drop the rest on a two channel amp to power those RTI 12's, they are power pigs like you've been told. If you have any questions or concerns then you are on a great site, lots of fellow canucks to bounce ideas off of, and if you do need any more answers feel free to PM me. Good luck with it all.
