set of speakers for .I currently have a klipsch center channle (and it is small) and a set of left and rights that were built from a kit .They are small bookshelf speakers .I am looking more into a small tower to hadle the two channle better ,one the volume is up a little the distortion light starts to flicker anad the speakers pop ( probably to much power).Any suggestions on a kit for the front three speakers , or a set already built .
thanks Ron

What is the impedance of the current kit? I'd expect the Adcom to be capable enough to handle most speakers, but if the kit is 4 Ohm nominal, low sensitivity, and you are pushing it hard, you could still clip. Clipping comes from too little power, not too much.

Price range is usually a good thing to note as well.

If you are a decent cabinet maker, doing DIY speakers can get you a lot of bang for the buck. Some places to check out are madisound, parts expre ss, and adire audio. They are all highly touted on the forums.

There is also a member here that built some speakers that he loves, but I forget his name. The model is AV-2 I think. He will certainly chime in.

:D No problem. Adire has some very well respected kits. Floorstanders, I'd look at their Kit 261.

GR Research offers the A/V-3 floorstander, but it's not exactly cheap if you aren't building the cabinets.

i BELIEVE THEY ARE 8OHM SPEAKERS THE BR-1 FROM PTS EXPRESS ,THE AMP IS RATED AT 175 WATTS AT 8OHM AND 250 AT 4 OHMS ,PRICE IS A LITTLE BIT OF A FACTOR RIGHT NOW ,BUT MAY NOT IN THE NEAR FUTURE .I WOULD LIKE TO BUILD MY OWN IF POSSIBLE . THANKS RON ,SORRY FOR THE CAP'S .
