Hi, newbie here, I'm looking for a portable all in one device that can record radio broadcasts, mainly talk shows onto some kind of digital format, any ideas?

thanks

There are no longer easy options! In the old analog days this was easy.

You could look for an old cassette recorder. You could look for an old DAT player, if you want digital, however DAT tapes will soon be a thing of he past.

The modern way of doing this is with a professional Flash recorder.

However you will need a record editing system on you PC to download the flash recorder.

If a lap top is portable enough for you, you could use a lap top as a portable record device, but it would not be handy.

I'd suggest just shopping around for a digital audio player (like an iPod) with a radio tuner. iPods require an external tuner (I think...they used to), but other players have them built in. I know that you can get them with FM tuners. I'm not sure about AM.

If you only care about FM, I think iRiver still makes an MP3 player with a tuner. The one I have is several years old but it will record from the radio. You then just need a program to download from the player. My iRiver doesn't support the USB mass storage standard so I had to get a separate program.

Its something like that i'm looking for, thanks. But when checking the specs on iriver's site, I'm seeing "FM radio and FM recording reservation". What does that mean?
