I currently Have a Harman Kardon AVR247 and it sounds great, but I'm having loads of problems, and from what i hear this isn't uncommon in recent years.

powered by my HK are JBL stadium fronts with matching(as in from the venue series as well) center and surrounds and in the future a pair of unknown bookshelves to run as zone 2.

I have narrowed my options down to three receivers and would like to hear what other people think. Its come down to the Yamaha RX-V1900, Pioneer Elite VSX-03TXH, or Onkyo TX-SR806. They vary slightly in features and rated power but all will be sufficient for my needs. I'm mostly concerned with the SQ for music, movies are important too but its second priority and all seem to be very reliable brands.

The only one i can listen to is the Onkyo, but thats at Circuit City and this particular store is on its way out so the set up is far from ideal.

PS: price isn't a factor in between the three because i have the means of getting them all at pretty much the same price

I just helped set up an Onkyo 606 receiver with the Audyssey sound correction feature and I highly recommend getting a receiver with the Audyssey feature. Setup was very easy and results were excellent.

Greetings,

I recently replaced my Sony STRDA4300ES with a Yamaha RX-V3900 and am actually shocked how much better the Yamaha sounds than the Sony. I have owned a number of Sony ES receivers in the past but I think the recent models are just not up to older Sony standards. The Yamaha is easy to setup, YPAO auto setup, etc and it sounds fantastic. My two cents.

You won't go wrong with any of those choices. I have a Pio Elite 01 and a Yamaha 3800 and they are both great. As Exit mentioned, I have heard that the Audessy correction system is better than the YAPO and the Pio version, but all give good results. I had an older Denon without it and when I hooked up the Yamaha with YAPO, WOW was there a difference!;)

The only negative I have heard about the Onkyo units is that they tend to run really hot. If you use one of those (or any of them, for that matter) make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

btw: Welcome to the forum!
