As long as the receiver has the features you want and enough power to drive your speakers (most do) I tend to think any of the receivers from the major manufactures should work equally well. I have had Denons, a Yamaha and an Onkyo. The only problem I had with any of them was the sub pre out on the Onkyo just stopped working after four years. The Onkyo was the most user friendly and the Denons just the opposite.

I have had two Onkyos, and I agree they have an excellent user interface. I personally like the Denon better, at least what they had a few years ago in the early 2000's, I don't know much about their stuff now.

Pioneer Elite is highly recommended these days as well so look into them.

Well with $800 to spend.

Look at the back of each unit and choose the one that has the inputs and outputs you need. John
