Hi everyone,

New member here. Very excited I found this blog.

I am looking for a home theatre system, no more than 5.1, for my living room. The room is a medium sized living room with a a partial brick wall, built in cabinets wooden floors and stairs. I am thinking of getting a system that would give a classic look, like a Music Hall system, just not as expensive.

My budget is $1500. I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to sound systems, so I don't mind spending a little more.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Welcome.

The best advice I can give is do your homework. There is a lot to a system besides hardware.

Do some research on room acoustics, proper speaker placement, and system testing.

If you can provide photos with room dimensions, we can help you with proper layout and speaker placement.

If you are on a budget, a 3.1 system can be quite impressive until you can afford rear surrounds. Building a system over time is better than compromising and buying equipment that is not your first choice.

If you start putting together a grocery list, we can also help you to put thing in that you may not have considered important like SPL meter and a test CD/DVD.

Good luck and keep us posted on your research. This is the true key to a good performing SYSTEM!!!!
