I have a pair of TEAC bookshelf speakers which I really like (IMPEDANCE 6 OHM - MAX POWER IMPUT - 60W)

I also have a Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 system for my computer (Speakers Rated Power @ 10% THD (RMS/Channel)
4.5 watts)

Could I connect the TEAC speakers to the system? They look so much better but I'm worried about damaging them.

Thankyou for any responses.

Anyone?

I don't want to snip the wires from the satellites before I know for sure.

Cambridge Soundworks has made more than one set of 2.1 computer speakers. Which do you have? What is the model? What model of Teac speakers are they (though this is probably less important)?

Basically, if the power output of the amplifier is enough to drive the speakers, and if the impedance of the speakers is not a problem for the amplifier, you can do it. However, it is possible that Cambridge Soundworks has applied some equalization to the amplifier to get the speakers to sound better, which, if so, would almost certainly not sound good with your Teac speakers.

A small separate amplifier could be used to drive the Teac speakers, which would easily avoid any such potential problem. Of course, it is also dependent upon you either already having an amplifier, or buying one.

Now, if you want me to guess about your original question, most likely, you can do it. How it will sound is another matter, but you can probably do it.

Hi Pyrrho, thank you for your reply.

It's the
SW320 model.

I never crank the thing up to silly levels, just a bit of music, the odd film and gaming.
