Plasma's are too dark to suit me. I like the brighter picture, not as bright as the stores, but bright

Plasma Displays are just as bright or brighter than LCDs. Do your research and you will know which tech works for you. FWIW the argument about brightness is about brightness its about black levels, which becomes a whole different discussion. Judging any display in a retail environment is like auditioning speakers with ear plugs in.

thanks for your opinion.........but that is not mine

I have the Samsung A950 & it is much brighter than a plasma, even on standard setting. Add to the fact that my main viewing room has a variety of outside light = plasma not suited to my needs

Its not an opinion it a measurable fact. ;) BTW your 950 is if not the best 2nd best LCD made with very high marks and only 1 of 2 LCDs I'd recommend.

Thanks,

The A950 has been a pleasure to watch. It gets a lot of comments when people see it for the 1st time.

Now I am thinking about the Sony HX800. Anyone have experience with this set?
