Looking for 2 floor speakers with great highs

I have an infinity component system in my car and get great highs but not so much out of my home system. I currently have a 600 watt Kenwood HTIB and have my eyes set on this Denon AVR-685 receiver. I listen to a lot of music from my computer (through fiber optic) and watch movies sometimes. I want to get 2 floor standing speakers that produce some clear sound from the tweeters. Looking to spend ~$400 (preferably lower) right now on those and most likely a sub as well because my current one uses the normal speaker wires. I'm happy with the power of the bass and the speakers except for the clarity. If I could get some good recommendations I'd appreciate it, thanks.

You could get these. $400 for the pair in most stores. CCity has sales on them from time to time ~$360/pair

If you can find someone who still has stock, the Energy C-5 would be an excellent choice. These are normally over $600.00 a pair, but there are new models coming out and I've seen them for under $400.00.

You said $400 for both the towers and a sub right?

If so you might want to look into the BIC Acoustech Towers. These are consiered more HT speakers than musical but they will give you great crisp highs due to their horn tweeter. These can be had at the most for $269 + S/H. I have these due for delivery on the 12th but I need to get my receiver fixed also so it will be a while before I can actually give a review on them but do a search and you will find tons af info on them. Then I am told the Cadence Xsub is a good musical sub (Ask BuckeyeFan or MacNaM). I believe you can find this for like $229+S/H. If you watch Ubid and the "Sell your gear" page here at Audioholics you may be able to get this for about $400.

See the link below about the Xsub

I meant ~$400 on just the 2 speakers. I would like to just use my old sub for now but I dont know how it would be possible since it just has the 2 normal speaker wire connects.

Circuit City has those Polks for $175 each, same as Frys electronics but neither has them in stock. I will look into all those suggestions though, thanks.

If you want to get an idea of how the Acoustech speakers sound, try to find a good dealer in your area that carries Klipsch Reference series and have a listen.
