Whats the difference between using the balanced inputs VS the RCA inputs?

Basically less chance of interference, but for the length of run you will be using, using the unbalanced connections will be just fine.

I own or have owned both of those amps. I'm sure you'll enjoy them very much. Hard to beat at that price point.

Congrats on your new purchase Dave,

sure you'll enjoy it for a while though. So far, couldn't be happier with my "little" UPA-7 though :D Now is time to enjoy what you've got ;):)

I got my XPA-5 about two months ago. I love that monster! I'm BITTING my nails waiting for the UMC-1 to go with it. Enjoy it. If you have 'WHO'S NEXT', turn up the Keith Moon drum solo LOUD. That's what I did, and I felt like I was right there next to him. It gave me chills.:D

In this case, it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.

The XPA-5/XPA-2 will simply convert those balanced signals back to regular unbalanced signal once the signals enter the amps.

In a "fully balanced" amp, the balanced signals remain fully balanced even once the signals enter the amps. In a fully balanced amp, you theoretically gain improved SNR & Crosstalk. However, in practical everyday world application, you will not notice any difference.

The balanced amps are supposed to prevent the ground hum noise. However, they may still not prevent the ground hum (caused by cable/satellit lines) and you will still need a ground loop isolator to stop the ground hum.
