Long HDMI run or Long Digital Coax Audio run

For reasons I won't bore you with, I am putting my TV and receiver in different parts of the same room. The DVD player can either go with my receiver in one area or with my TV in another area.

The only factor I have to consider is which cable run will do the best over a distance of about 15 feet.

If I put my DVD player with my receiver, I will have to run about 15 feet of HDMI to get the video to my TV, while the digital coax for audio will be short as it will be hooked to my receiver right next to the DVD player.

Conversely, I could place the DVD player with the TV. In that case, the HDMI run will be short (only 1-2 feet), while the digital coax run from the DVD player to the receiver will be long, maybe 15 feet.

Which is preferable or is it a toss up with likely no degradation in sound quality or video quality over that distance?

Either of those isn't terribly long. But I think it would be a toss up between the two - personally, take the cable that costs more and make it the shorter one.

On the main audioholics page there is an article about speaker wire and I think they talk about the wavelength of the signal being way way way bigger than any home theater distance of cable used...

toss-up

No signal loss for either source. Go the route which you prefer for your convenience, the cost deference isn't that great!

I am running a 35ft HDMI run with a cable from bluejeans cable. No issues.

No concern unless 50ft or more and then buy an in-line booster. Your case is no problem w/ either.
