ok i've been reading many threads and yes i've done my share of searching and googling....

i know that my system can connect to DVD through coax but I don't want to put my speakers out in the living room and have them only work for DVD and not during TV. the only way I see to do both efficiently is to use a receiver.

my question is, is there any way to use my logitech z5500's out of a HT receiver as the audio speakers. I've tried a lot of things and I still can't figure it out...

do you guys know if its possible, even if there is wire splicing involved.

basiclly i want my speakers to play regular tv, and when its on dvd mode be able to play dolby digital....

Logitech Inputs: Coax, Optical, Analog
Receiver Outputs: +, - wires?

the bad thing about my receiver is that it doesn't output in RCA but only in + and - wires... is there anyone to convert those?

Not too sure about that one

Hello,

Yay, my first post!

I am currently considering this as well though I have Logitech Z-560 4.1s (which doesn't have RCA connectors from the satellites to the sub, so I least I may be about to use the sats with my receiver). Before I moved I got an ordinary composite switch box from RadioShack ($20) and hooked the audio of every component to it with the speakers. Though it requires you to manually change the inputs, you can effectively have the speakers outputting from all sources. Obviously, unless you have a STB, you wouldn't get sound this way from OTA broadcasts.

Other than this, I believe, you are pretty much out of luck.

Why dont you just do it like this; tv-stereo rca-Digital SoundTouch™ Control Center-speakers.

And then; dvd player-optical-Digital SoundTouch™ Control Center-speakers?

I must be missing something b/c that "control center has multiple inputs.

I was thinking you could run it all through the Control Center as well. No need for using the line level outputs of the receiver - nothing gained and redundant unless you want to add more stuff immmediately.

Connect the yellow cable (composite video cable by the way) straight to your TV?

You can pick up composite video switchers online and at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks which will give you video switching for your TV if you need some additional switching.

Like this:

See, you just plug your DVD, VCR, Cable, PS2 into the back and then the audio can be plugged straight into your Logitech stuff and you are done.
