I personally own a harmony 1000(theater), and was considering buying another universal remote for my main living room,... it will be used ALOT, prolly every day and the 1000 is nice but tricky and more of a showpeice than a remote, i was wondering if the 890 or another remote could do a better job, or should i just get another 1000

I think the Harmony 659 is the easiest to use. Have one in the bedroom and living room with the 880 in the theater room. I did have a 520 in the living room but my wife and grandmother found the small buttons difficult to use.

You can get the 659 on ebay for $45 with free shipping.

Man, I use the inexpensive 659 and love it. Very simple and works great.

Never used anything but the 880 and love them. I'd say stick with the 890 or lower. There's no need for the 1000, like you said it's mostly a show piece.

Have you taken a look at the Harmony 1? It has some of the feature your used to with the 1000, but very user friendly and a touch screen too. I would def recommend it.

Well, do you need the RF capability? If so, take the 890. If not, these other suggestions are fine.

I had a Harmony 1000 for a short time, but found it inconvenient to use so I returned it. I now use the 659 and find that it's much easier to use.

How about the URC rf30?

I was reading a long remote post... and the clear choices seemed to be the rf30 and the harmony series (affordable ones that is) like the 520 or 659. Anyone ever hear of the icon remote? used one?
Which would you all recommend.
Just need something for the older Sharp TV, Motorola DVR/cable box, newer Philips DVD and the Yamaha 663 I'll soon be owning.
Thanks

I have a Harmony 1000 I am giving away to a good home, I like my Sony AVS3500 better............too bad as I thought the 1000 was gonna be a great solution, it works great but just not for me as its few glitches bug me.

The Harmony H659 works great, as long as you don't use it to watch TV from a DVR. It's unusable to fast forward through commercials, due to lag time.

I have two 880's. Great remotes, but difficult to use in a darkened room as the buttons are small, and the backlighting not very bright.
I recently bought a Harmony One. MUCH better. Buttons are larger, easier to use and the backlighting is brighter.
Controls all of my equipment perfectly.

I own a 670 and recently bought a One. I love them both. I would recommend the 880 or the One over the 890 (unless you really need RF capability). You can find great prices on eBay for New In Box units.

I dont find that to be true nor do I notice "lag time". Mine does a better job then the remote that came with my HD DVR box.

I was looking at the Logitech Harmony 880 for about $150.00 but I saw the Harmony one for $210.00, is the touch screen worth the extra $60 or is there more to the "one" that im missing? Thanks

The big differences are in the shape and the design of the remote. They designed the One to fit more comfortably & naturally in the palm of your hand. This may sound silly, but even my fiancee commented on it without being told. They also completely redesigned the hard keys to allow for more natural pressing (on my 670 I noticed that many of the number keys need to be deliberately pressed) as opposed to pounding on the buttons.

Aside from that and the touch screen, there's really no difference.
