Allright...I hate to admit it...My downstairs family room audio system sucks!

Equipment:

KOSS 5.1 HTIB system
Sony 53' Rear Projection TV

This is basically all of the setup:

Yes, it has cube speakers. That's why it sucks so bad! It sounds tinny. Terrible compared to my setup in my room (which i'm updating my thread too, since i added rear speakers and a DVD player)

This suboofer sucks. It's not powered and we dont have an amp so it has very little output. I sort of fixed this by turning down the dB level of all of the other speakers in the setup menu in the player:

Our rear speakers (one is behind a weight rack setup thingy) :

The main unit:

The back:

We have wall terminals for speaker wire:

The other end for the speaker wire, is behind the TV. This terminal is the same as the one in my room (except in my rom it isnt used since the other terminals dont work) :

Overall. It's bad. I hate to say it. My mom was looking for something like this, she showed me a sheet that she had printed off of the 'net. However, I payed no attention to the specs and just looked at the picture and said "it looks good!"...Now I learn. everything audio looks good in pictures that companies put out! Read the specs!

Rest assured though, my freinds, that in our new house, we will have a full fledged HT. With a dedicated room and all!

Could be worse...you could have spent $1500 on a cube speaker setup that really "B(l)ose" instead of whatever you did spend! Nice big TV. Let us know what you have planned for the next place.

Yeah, thats true..hehe

We are probably going to use a projector in the HT room, and hopefully a 7.1 setup.

I don't know about the electrician that is doing our audio stuff....for one thing, he ran 14AWG wire for all of the audio. Thats really long distances! Another, i dont think he put a powered sub in my room, but i could be mistaken. I'll have to ask him.

ah..gotcha.
Yeah, I dont know what we'll do with this setup in the new house though, so I dont want to add or buy a new sub yet
