Hey,

I am thinking about getting a set of Linn Ninkas together with a Linn Classic Movie system. While I am pretty sure about the Classik, I am struggeling with the Ninkas.

I've listened to quite a few loudspeakers and fell in Love with the Ninkas, nevertheless before paying such a rather large amount of money for a set of loudspeakers, I though I'd try and ask you for suggestions or experiences about them.

Maybe somebody also could also point out some alternatives to the Ninka.

Thanks in advance!

Ive demo'ed Linn gear quite a bit over the years & i generally have been more impressed with their speakers over the electronics,Linn gear always sounded average to me but their speakers sound better than alot of other hi end speakers ive heard.

I own a bunch of hi end gear but im not a proponent of buying expensive gear from dealers unless they are willing to give atleast a 30% discount from the msrp & with speakers i want 40% off msrp or im taking a walk.

If your not aware of Audiogon.com you should pop on over & take a look, use the zip code search function to see all the used gear in your zip code so you can go demo & hear different gear in person, lots of hi end dealers sell new gear out the back door at huge discounts on that site & there are a ton of used speakers in a 9 of 10 condition at huge discounts.

If your gonna buy hi end used is the only way to go unless your dealer cuts
some serious deals.

Thanks for your suggestions. First of all I have to say that I am not located anywhere near the US or Canada, which means even IF one of the sellers would be willing to ship something my way, I'd face horrendous shipping charges as the Ninkas aren't only huge, but also heavy. I'd also have to face custom charges which would immediately destoy any financial benefit I had when I bought them.

Then again there sure must be sites like audiogon.com that are better suited for me and the country I live in.

The worst thing I have to say is that I yesterday missed out on an ebay auction for a pair of NEW Ninkas that went for 1000$US, which is even less than half the price they cost new over here. I waited for the auction to end more than 8 days and when it finally came to an end, I missed out on it - nice I just lost a huge amount of money.

Sadly there barely are any Ninkas to find on ebay, which means there is only very little point in waiting and hoping for another pair to surface...

Well, again thanks for your suggestions - I'll see if I can somehow manage to find a nice deal for the Ninkas, not having to pay full retail...
