Linn - any thoughts?

A friend of mine is about to leave some stuff with me and I found 1 of them to be a Linn pre-amp. Never heard of this company, sorry didn't get much information on model #s except it starts with a K and he's okay for me to buy it which I believe he'll give it dirt cheap. Just wondering if it's worth the effort and money....

Linn is a respected company. Whether you should buy the preamp depends upon what exactly it is, and what exactly you want to do with it.

Google the model number(s) and see what you find. If you get links to Linn of New Hampshire, run away, screaming. That's not the good Linn, which is based in Scotland.

I hate it when there is more than one company using the same name. The Linn I was referring to as a respectable company is:

http://www.linn.co.uk/

And they are located in Scotland, not New Hampshire. From looking at the web site of Linn of New Hampshire, they seem to be selling a relabeled Behringer power amp:

http://www.linnaudionh.com/amplifiers.html

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/A500.aspx

And a relabeled Dayton amplifier:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-812

Anyway, before highfigh's post, I had never heard of this other Linn, and make no claims whatsoever about them.

Thanks. The model is called "Kisto" but more than that I'll have to tear the packaging which my friend said "Are you positive you would like to buy it?" type of statements......

$200 - a steal

Well if you don't like it I'll take it off your hands for more than $200
