Libherr LR 13000 crane coming to work on our new building

We are building one of the largest, most advanced Chip Fabs in the world at one of our sites in the US. As it is an extremely large facility, they have to have the world's largest crane come in to drop the support beams for the roof in. There are some big cranes there already, but this one should be a sight to behold.

The LR 13000 is the most powerful conventional crawler crane in the world. One of its main areas of use is power plant construction.

I'd like to highlight one small part of that photo to get some idea of the scale of this little thing:

The tracks are about 72 ft wide and 17 ft high.

I just went to lunch. My office is about 2 miles from there and you can clearly see most of it from here lol. It dwarfs the other cranes. Hard to tell from that pic, but it is about 1.5x the size of the one next to it.

If not mistaken, this one has the highest lifting capacity for a mobile crane. The largest crane is "Big Carl", but I don't think that one is transportable. They mentioned that the LR 13000 carries its counterbalance on board, making it faster to deploy, so I guess that not all of them do?

I don't think they could fit anything bigger here lol. It takes up so much space on the site.

I was just thinking how impressive that counterbalance is when I realized it has two: 1 on the chassis direct and another below the back arm of it. Crazy.

Im certain somewhere in the history of this has made a "compensation" joke or two about this thing!
