I just saw this at Circuit City for $1,700 (floor sample since November).
Is this a good product at a good price?
Any comments on buying a floor sample?
Thanks.

Almost any floor model TV (especially a plasma) has probably been running 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week, at the highest brightness setting (ie torch mode). Depending on how long it's been on display, it could easily have two or more years of lifespan lost. If it came with a NIB type warranty, that may ease the concerns somewhat.

Look over the display, then pay a little more for that in-store extended warranty. No worries for a few years at least.

Make SURE you check the display carefully for burn in or other problems. Send different stuff to the screen (bring a video camera in for example) and send NO source as well to check for any burn in before you buy. Burn-in is NOT a covered problem.

Otherwise, I have always been a big fan of floor models. Dings and nicks that don't affect final performance but save me some cash??? Good deal!
