Lets see how angry my wife gets:) Need advice on buying 5.1 surround sound system

Been going over pages of threads and Recommendation on Audioholics $2500 article. As much as I enjoy seeing how piping hot I can get my wife 2500 is a bit steep. Looking at range of 1-1.5k. I plan on using the unit to watch movies, little bit of gaming, and a little music but primarily movies. Im thinking of going with the Denon AVR-X1100W as it seems to be the center piece for future upgrades. Need advice on speakers and subwoofer. Also this is a 2 story 2400sq ft house and living room is open concept with half of cieling going to second floor ceiling so hard to say area it will cover. Thanks for everyones help.

WIth an HT, you are going to want to focus on the subwoofer and front sound stage {your front L R and center...}...

For an avr buy the cheapest one that will do what you need it to, if you don't need air play, preouts, 3d, 4k, ect ect ect don't buy it..

For the fronts since you are going to cross your lows to your subwoofer I would get bookshelfs up front...

For a sub I am going to guess your living room is around 300sq ft with 8.5' ceilings...
