Hey all. I'm an Audiophile, amateur music producer on a non exsistant budget.

I'm trying to aquire the best, most accurate speakers I can however these are the rules:

They must be under £20
They must be pre 1980
If possible they should be British made

I love the vintage British sound and to me old British speakers tend to be more natural, laid back and uncoloured. So am trying to go for British built if poss. I specifically chose pre 1980 as it was before this time that most British speaker companys actually made their own. PLUS I get more for my money as alot of people seem to think that because they are old they are not worth anything or don't sound good.

Yep, I have done ok so far from second hand shops and bootsales.

Someone gave me a pair of 1960's Celestion Ditton 15 XR's which actually sound amazing. However the tweeters had blown and had to be repaired. Unfortunatly the repair guy wasn't too competant and just stuck any old pair tweeters in. Now they sound too harsh, the highs are too loud and the left treble has terrible resonance at higher vols.

Today I picked up a pair of Mordaunt short MS35ti for £8. These sound great and are now replacing my celestions (only due to the tweeter problem mind you)

I grabbed a pair of Wharfdale Dentons A while back for £3 but they sounded too 'vintage' (limited freq response) but the quality was still quite good.

At the boot sale last week I saw a Bose studioline (cant remember exact model number) Looked pretty good however their was only one so I left it.

Back to the booty tomorrow to see if I can get anything else

Anyone else like to share the bargains they have had? I love bargains!!
