LED lights are finally coming down in price. They are still expensive but now that I've found some GU10 halogen replacements with Cree LED's for around $12 I'm thinking about getting a couple to see how they compare to the power sucking and heat producing halogens in my kitchen and bedroom fixtures.

Has anyone else tried any LED replacement lights? I would actually love to replace the appliance bulbs in my over the range microwave. I use the light underneath over the stove all the time and the two 40w appliance bulbs generate a tremendous amount of heat. I would love to leave it on as a night light but I don't want to waste the power. I have not been able to find any intermediate base LED dimmable replacements. Do they not exist? It seems like a perfect application.

There is actually a whole thread discussing LED lighting, but for some reason I can't find it. I use them in quite a few places and they work great. Yes, dimmable LEDs exist, but they tend to be pretty expensive still.
