Hope this question isn't too general but here goes.

Top end DLP vs Top End LCD

Same source (Blue Ray)
Same lighting conditions (optimal for dlp or LCD)
Seated at the best possible location to view.

Which one is going to give me the best picture.

Now let's replace the blue ray with a Direct TV HD rec. agian optimal lighting, viewing distances and angles etc. Which set would be better to watch football on?

I know alot is subjective, but generally speaking, all things taken into account.

Let's say we're using a 52XBR4 vs a Mitsh Diamond DLP WD-57833 or the upper end Sammy DLP LED set.

Location is not a factor, all sets are set up to view under thier optimal conditions, which one gives the best, artifact free, lag free, picture of these 3 techs?

I just bought the 52XBR4 after looking at the Samsung LED DLP. The instore display model had a terrible OSD, really blue whites, could not handle sunspots on the camera (they got grainy.) The corners of the screen were dark, and mixed with glare, viewing angle problems and the inability to see the thing in a sun lit room caused me to stay away from that purchase.

There's a lot I like about the XBR4, but the two biggest cons I've found:

1. Picture in picture: only works with 2 different input sources. Don't think about being able to surf two different channels at the same time - it can't do it.
2. The remote is very line-of-sight dependent. Very disappointing.

Note, the Sony is 56" wide, not 52. Measure it twice before buying an entertainment center or TV stand.

I can't comment on how it'll look with a digital or HD package yet: I don't have it, yet.

i have a mits 65" dlp in the living room and a sony 40" lcd in bedroom...the LCD has way better picture, hd or sd it dont matter. The dlp is a nice picture but the colors seem more accurate on the sony lcd.
