I almost bought a Sharp Aquos over my Panasonic. In the end I went with Panny, but I felt the Sharp had impressive color. One thing to maybe consider, the display is quite bright. It would probably look better in a well lit room vs other displays. If your putting it into a dedicated home theatre, where you have good lighting control, it may be a bit bright. Also, see how it looks at off axis viewing.
In addition, it really is only a 1080p display. Sharp uses a split vertical pixel to emulate 4k. 4k displays are pricey now, making the Sharp look attractive, but once 4k displays start to drop in price?
Sharp has been around for years, great reliability. I personally feel the jump in refresh rate makes a difference. I play a lot of racing games on XBOX and my last display was 120hz. I saw a huge difference in picture clarity with fast motion games when played on a 240hz display.
This of course, translated into better picture during faster, action packed movie scenes as well.
I see by your signature, you already have a Sharp. The fact you're looking at another one speaks to your satisfaction with the brand, no?
That's my two cents. Happy shopping.

hey there. couple things. I am very happy with my current sharp. My thought is that right now i need a tv down there so i can do that room. But i have left it open that even with the 80 inch, i cna move it up to the family room where my sharp 65 is and it fits fine. So if TVs in 4k drop in a couple years...AND i can get sports in 4k...then i will upgrade then..but i find it hard to spend the money right now when we barely even get 1080 on any cable box you know?

I do like sharp...have had NO issues with my tv at all. I even have a samsung 55 inch upstairs in my master and i prefer the image on the sharp!

I know it is simulated 4k and i can deal with that...i saw some 4k content on it...and hell it looks really really close to the real 4k.

this weekend sharp comes out with the 70 inch true 4k for 3000...but i am getting the 80 inch for a few hundred dollars more then that!

We get a pretty good Dish package with a ton of HD channels. ;) I really don't see any issues, sounds like you have it pretty well thought out. Does your Denon do 4K?
