Laptop to tv

I just got my first laptop and have enjoyed watching movies when it is connected to my tv. I am linking the two with a S video. Is there any way to get better picture quality? Is there such a thing as S video to component and if there is does it make any difference? Thanks for the help! Edit: Would VGA be a better option?

if your tv has a vga input, that would be the best connection.

Video cables

You should also be able to get a VGA to component video cable if necessary. Some new laptops have a DVI output which you could connect with a DVI to HDMI cable for the best resolution.

A composite or s-video output will be lower resolution than VGA/Component video.
