Laptop to rotel amp help?

I have been trying to get my laptop connected to a rotel rb1050 amp via headphone jack using the mm to rca cables.It doesnt work for whatever reason.Even tryed different speakers to see but no dice.Headphone jack works as i tryed headphones just to make sure.Could use the help.similar to these.Thanks

You get very low sound or no sound at all? Maybe a USB DAC would work? Sounds like your headphone jack just doesn't have enough juice to drive it. I use one of these Amazon.com: Behringer UCA202 Audio Interface: Musical Instruments just to get it connected and it seems to work well. Not audiophile sound quality, but it sounds decent and works reliably. You can spend a lot more and get a nicer DAC than that too though, if you are so inclined.

Even if your setup had worked I would strongly recommend using a preamp. There are to many scenarios where things can go wrong when using a computer headphone jack strait to a power amp that I wouldn't risk it.

thanks.I actually just tryed connecting to my marantz front aux and it worked.So im assuming its the amp maybe fuse or something as its been in storage for awhile.I may try wat u suggested.for info the front power light of amp did come on,so well see.Thanks again

Yes, I use the DAC to the my AVR and Pre too, not directly to an amp. A hefty amp typically likes a higher input voltage and while some headphone jacks can do it, not all of them have a sufficient voltage to get an amp going properly.
