Laptop/Ipod Speakers

Hi,
I am looking to buy some speakers for my laptop (majority of use) , but i am not sure what to get. I am willing to spend up £300.But they need to be portable and able to plug an ipod into them (houseparties!). I was looking at the Beatbox by Dr Dre, or Monster Clarity HD Monitor Speakers. I Know i am asking a lot, but was wondering if you had any ideas.

I'll probably get a few jabs for this one but,

Anything none of these will provide room filling sound for a medium to large house party, but for computer speakers that are mostly portable, they'll do an adequate job.

So did you get one of the systems mentioned or what? Hopefully you didn't make an impulse buy at Wally world.
