Might as well ask here too...I'm looking for specific brands/models of laptop (or netbook, but NOT desktop) that do what few or none (that I could find) could do in 2009 -- pass multichannel PCM over HDMI. Back then, every model I looked at had 'restricted' HDMI that could only pass 2-channel PCM (as well as multichannel lossy bitstreams, of course). I have lots of DVD-A 5.1 files I've ripped and archived to hard drive from my disc collection, waiting to be played back as lossless from foober2000 the same way I now play 2-channel and DTS/AC3 5.1.
I've been advised that certain laptop or netbook graphics/audio chipsets now do pass multichannel PCM via HDMI, but no one's actually pointed me at laptops that have them.
