Has anybody tried these earphones? I would just like to say that it is one of the most pleasant surprises I had in a while. I was looking for a nice set of in the ear phones for a PDA. I tried the sony fontopia hoping that at $40 it should perform fairly well. The sony's went back to best buy the next day. It claimed a low end of about 6 Hz but what bass it did produce sounded terrible. I saw the KOSS model on the shelf and figured for $16 it was a reasonable experiment. I first tried out the default plugs while listening to the clapton chronicles. It sounded much clearer compared to the sony and had a little bit more bass. I swapped out the regular plugs for slightly smaller conical ones in the pack hoping that it would mold better to my ear and produce better bass but the didn't really help. I finally tried the third pair of plugs out of 4 which was a big and long pair of cylindrical plugs. As soon as I put it in I was surprised at how much bass I was getting from this thing. I regularly use a pair of HD590 phones and I was very pleased with the bass that I was getting. Granted there are always trade offs. With the better bass, the mid range and highs sounded more distant (analogous to passing mid and high frequencies to a subwoofer when it is wired incorrectly in a multichannel set-up) however this was easily fixed by boosting the higher frequencies with an equalizer.
I think that these are an excellent pair of headphones for anybody who likes to listen to music on the go and doesn't want something like an HD590 drastically cutting the battery life. IPOD owners should definitely give these a try. Suffice it to say that I will be keeping these "plugs"

Thanks Doc,

You know the other day I was thinking about how there is no real way to audition head/ear phones. So I am glad to hear that there are a good sounding set for a reasonable price. I wonder if anyone else has a good recommendation?
