I watched the Blu-ray version of "Knowing" the other night.

That was some good workout for my subs. :D

Picture quality: excellent. Great details and colors. But the CGI effects suck.
Audio quality: excellent. Magnificent music soundtrack. Best part for me.
Special features: so, so. Not much there to bite. Boring would be the word.
Story line: very simple, maybe too much so, seems like deja vu.
Acting: also very simple, nothing to get an Oscar for, that's for sure. Low Fi.

Overall: a great rental for your audio system and display.

Final verdict: 3.5 out of 5 (mainly for the video and audio parts).

This is one of those movies that reminds me why I don't like Nicolas Cage. His droll, phoned-in, sleepy-eyed acting just doesn't do much for me. About half way though the movie I realized that the trailer pretty much was a spoiler. I will admit that on blue ray it's a pretty good spectacle, but it's one of those movies that's easy to forget.

Wait till you see Bangkok Dangerous. Wait, don't. Nicky at his glorious worst, by far. Also, a poor premise/storyline and weak plot.

I kind-of liked Con Air, but then realized it was for everything BUT Nick Cage.

Never saw Bangkok Dangerous yet. I heard that Nick was not that great in it.
But I also heard that it has a very decent picture and great soundtrack.
Should I not rent it for this two last ones alone?

In Knowing, Nick is not bad, but not particularly good either.

What about renting Bangkok Dangerous on a rainy day, when I got time to kill? Just for the popcorn side effect from it?

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!

Got around to seeing this flick last night. Nick Cage - eh, he did OK. Certainly better than Ghost Rider.
I liked the way the film was shot, and I liked the story, until the whole alien thing.

BUT - the real star of this film is the audio. The gun shot was utterly frightening, the subway wreck pounding, the Jeep/semi collision made me cringe, and the airplane crash …if ever there were a compelling piece of audio goodness to convince someone that going Hi-def does not stop at a big 1080p display & BD player, that is it! Had the whole family jumping (and me :D )

^ Yeah Craig, the audio soundtrack really shakes the foundation of the house on that one. :)

I can never remember all those switches, that’s why I put the alert up high.

I saw Knowing after reading all the negative comments but tried to go in with an open mind. Most of the movie I was trying really hard to figure out why so many people knocked it....Then the last 20 minutes left no doubts. Count me with those that thought the end ruined what could have been a very good film.
