Klipsch subs/Paradigm sub

Normally I wouldn't do this and I know using my first post to ask a question is crappy manners but I'm a relatively new audiophile and need a little help with this one.

First off, I'm using a Denon AVR-590 with the klipsch HD 300 fronts, center and rears, I upgraded the sub 6 to a klipsch rw-10d. It might be overkill compared to my others but I love good bass (I has a sickness lol).

I wanted to make use of the sub 6 by using it in tandem with the rw-10d. I was told the only way to do that with the receiver I had is to use Three sub cables and a single female RCA to dual female RCA adapter to split the signal.

Then I was told by a different friend that all this would do is either overload my receiver or kill the sub 6. He suggested I should just sell off the 2 klipsch subs and buy something paradigm (the guy I got this info from thought paradigm was way better then klipsch)

So... should I try to link the subs or sell em off and get something new?
And if I go with the something new, should I up and go with paradigm or is my friend just overly bias?

Thanks
Any help would be awesome:)

Welcome to the forum!

Connecting both subs to your receiver's single sub output using a splitter is perfectly fine. It won't overload your receiver. The line-level output for the sub signal is very low power.

In addition to the cables/splitter option that you mentioned, you could use a splitter like this one (picture below) along with two RCA cables.

If I were you, I'd try out the subs that you have and find out if you like them. If so, then you're good to go. As for setting them up, there are some good articles on the main Audioholics site under their Tips & Tricks section > Get Good Bass, such as this article on using multiple subs.

Paradigm can and does have crappy subs too.... Not all of them, but depends on your level of monetary input...

Better quality subs cost money - but thankfully there are alot of ID companies out there that offer better SQ and output for the money in comparison to the Brick and Mortar products...

I'm not saying you should buy new subs, I'm just clarifying the point...

If your truly interested in buying different subs, there are tons and tons of options depending on your room and budget...

*googles*

Really? That tiny thing? If anything I think it's keeping you away from a lot of content at meaningful SPLs! Just yesterday we were watching X-Men First Class at a good volume (the speech volume wasn't too loud, but it was about -3db on the receiver technically), and I was thinking this sub might be improved upon, in my room:

It's not the only way. It's the simplest, though.

Line level outputs like a sub out operate at very low current. The only issue I see happening is your receiver being unable to drive a really powerful amplifier to full power.

I too think you should sell both Klipsch subs :D, but paradigm will barely be an upgrade. There's some real upgrades to be had. You gotta be willing to spend money, give up floor space, and lose your perceptions on what bass is supposed to sound like, though. And you really need to go with an internet direct subwoofer company!

And if I go with the something new, should I up and go with paradigm or is my friend just overly bias?
I would not get Paradigm.

It's now your turn to blow your friend away, with two of these:

That said, before that I would personally be looking to get superior mains, before bothering with subs.
