Klipsch RW-8 vs. Velodyne VX-10

After selling some of the spare audio equipment that I was using on my computer, I've decided that I miss having a subwoofer in my office. I'm looking for something small to fill a 12x10 space and work with the H/K AVR-135 and Sony MHC-ZX30AV mini system I'm using on my PC.

Here's a quick pic of my setup. The bookshelves are surprisingly clean and powerful (especially w/ the HK) and can hit the mid to low 50's without much effort. You can just barely see the tiny center channel hidden behind my monitor but not the small surrounds I have mounted on the wall behind me in the picture.

Anyway. I'm looking at two possible subwoofers to fill the space left by my old AS-P300.
#1. I've found a silver 8" Klipsch RW-8 subwoofer on clearance for $199 CAD
#2. I can pick up a 10" Velodyne VX-10 for ~$250 CAD

On paper the Klipsch's specs are better despite having a smaller driver:
- 32-120Hz ±3dB
- 125W continuous / 270W dynamic
- 8" Cerametallic® cone, steel frame

Compared to the Velodyne's:
- 36-120 Hz, +/- 3dB
- 100W continuous / 150W dynamic
- 10" (8.2" piston diameter) coated fiber cone

Which one should I go with? I'm leaning heavily towards the Klipsch right now, but I know that specs can lie almost as badly as movie trailers...

Opinions?

Have you auditioned either of them? My Velodyne should be at Futureshop, and the Klipsch should be at London Drugs.

I've heard the Velo before (my friend picked one up on Boxing Day). I definitely has a nice tone to it for musc, but doesn't seem to have much impact for movies/games.

I ended up buying the Klipsch today. After making a fuss and citing the low WAF factor of a silver colored component, I talked the manager at London Drugs down to $150 from the $199 clearance price. The RW-8 regularly sold for $499 :D

I'm VERY impressed with the amount of good, clean bass this little thing can put out, actually. I was expecting to have to crank the volume on it to 100% in order to feel anything (like I did with my old 8" Athena), but I'm actually quite happy with it at ~65%.

The amount of air moving through the "corner port" is enough to lift the pages of the manual if I place it in front of the sub. No port noise that I can discern and overall very sturdy construction.

Sweet. One day I will have to check out the Klipsch subs.
