Hi all

I was at my local london drugs. They have a pair of klipsch RF-3's for 700$ canadian. That's not too bad considering they were normally 1400$. Now for that 700$ I have, I could buy the athena AS-F2's. Becasue they are the same price. I will be using these speakers in a large room. Upwards of 20 sqm's. The amp running them will be a Yamaha HTR-5660. I personally like the sound of the klipsch's but they were using a cheap panasonic amp for the auditioning process. So I don't know how they will sound on my yammie amp. They might sound bright which I don't mind but I don't like. I am severly underpowering for this size of room but i'm not rich. Thanks for any input and do you think the athena's would be better than the klipsch's but I havent heard them yet. I'm out. :p

The Klipsch will be more dynamic for Home Theater They are also more efficient than the Athena's making them a better choice for the 5660
The amp section in the 5660 will gain some headroom and be less likely to clip
when using the RF-3's One thing to keep in mind with the Klipsch is that they are very aggressive and have a forward presentation for a highly reflective room this will be exaggerated and will sound harsh and hooty
If your room has tile floor and a lot of glass I would lean toward a less aggressive speaker

Happy Listening

Thanks

Thanks RLA for the info.

My room is large as you know. It is like a gym, it is completly closed off and has a hardwood floor. There are no curtains or bass traps or anything to minimize reflections but luckly I dont think it'll be a big issue becasue it is so long. It has very high ceilings so that will effect the sound. I will be mostly listening to music and my musical tastes are heavy metal and some electronic. I like good tight bass but also some what large amounts of it. I'm worried about the horn tweet being excessivly bright with my yammie amp. Also I think the Klipsch speakers would be alot louder in the room. What would your pick in this situation. Between the Athena's and the Klipsch's. Also what speakers would probably have tighter bass. I'm guess the Klipsch's. I know I should listen my self, but I live in a very rural place and the nearest store for stereo stuff is over 70 miles. :p I'm out. What's your guyses opinions.
