Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0

I've had just about enough of these computer speakers!

I wanted to simplify the audio setup for my computer as I no longer care to have 'surround' sound for my computer setup and don't want the hassle of placing a subwoofer. So I picked the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0. They are a simple 2.0 setup with decent bass down to about 60 Hz, look good, and have both headphone and line inputs on the front.

They sound pretty good and have enough power for a near field computer listening environment. The annoying problem with them is that they frequently just cut-off completely! It's like the amplifier just quits amplifying the signal. You have to turn them off and on again or sometimes jiggling the input on the back of the speaker causes them to start playing again. Sometimes it will happen every ten minutes and sometimes they play fine for hours with no problems.

I've never had any problems with any other brand of computer speakers. I'm a bit reluctant to just buy another pair on the assumption that I just got a bad batch but there don't seem to be too many options for a decent 2.0 system other than these Klipsch.

cant you exchange them for another pair? did you just pick them up recently, or did these symptoms appear after the warranty?

I've had them for less than a year, don't remember exactly. Because they seemed fine for the first few months, I discarded all of the packaging.

I replaced the 3.5mm stereo mini cable that connects the right speaker to the soundcard and it seemed to be better, but it still cuts-outs on occasion.

maybe something is loose inside the right speaker :) since you're considering buying a new set of speakers ... maybe you can open up that right one
