Hi,

I have a Klipsch HDT-1000 powered through an Onkyo SR-707 AV for about 11 months now. Overall I am pretty happy with the system but wanted to upgrade the center. I have been reading the posts and recommendations were pointing to the same speaker family. So I am looking at the Klipsch RC-52II to go with the HDT-1000. Does it make sense for an upgrade? Is it going to match/work well with the HTD-1000 and the SR-707 AV? Any feedback would greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Terry

Hi Terry,

If you are a Klipsch fan (and fan of horn loaded speakers) I would probably encourage you to explore some options for gradually upgrading each piece of the HD100 (or at least the front R/L and center speakers). I think I am in the minority here as a fan of horn loaded speakers in general and Klipsch in particular.

I pieced my system together with some used speakers and some new ones. You can find a lot of Klipsch on craiglist or at the Klipsch forum in the classified sections (google klipsch community to find that site).

Many of Klipsch's lines of speakers are made so that you can swap out speakers from different series to match (you can do this with most of the speakers within the reference line or within synergy line with other speakers in that line but not necessarily between lines [e.g. matching a reference center channel with synergy fronts might not be a perfect match]).

Depending on the size of your space, you might want to look at some of the older lines from Klipsch that offer great value for the money if purchased used.

Hope that helps

Thanks for your feedback. Currently, I don't have any intention to replace the HD 1000 system for various reasons. Does it still make sense to upgrade the center? If so, do you know which center matches well with the HD 1000 set?
