I've got a line on someone who is wanting to sell some speakers. They are two F1's and two F2's. I'd also be getting a JBL sub and center thrown in, all for 400.

My question is, does anyone have any experience with these speakers; good, bad or otherwise?

Thats not a bad price. The F2s are normally $750 a pair and the F1s are 550 a pair.

I've always liked Klipsch. Those are from the synergy series, the line below their reference series. When I used to work at Best Buy, that speaker line was always my favorite. The sound quality is not too bad, especially at that price point.

What brand is the center?

The center is also a JBL. No info other than that.

I used to have a pair of F-3's. I thought they were very good for movies but I didn't care for them playing music. The horn tweeters make the dialog stand out for movie watching but can be a little bright/harsh for music when the volume is turned up. If your main purpose is HT duty, I think you would be happy with that setup for the price.

I was going to use the F2's in place of the Blose 161's as my surrounds, replace my Sony center and Yamaha sub with the JBL's if I like the sound. I would move the Blose, Yamaha, and Sony pieces into my bedroom and use the F1's as my mains.

I found a store that still has the F1's on the floor and I was going to go listen to them today.

I usually listen to music on all channel stereo but the Blose units lack so much. Go figure.

Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't you want the F-2's for your mains and F-1's for your surrounds? The extra driver in the 2's for fronts would seem to make more sense to me. Definately go and listen to a pair of you can. It will let you see if you like the general sound qualities of the speaker.

Yep, the general rule is to put the larger speaker in the front as they will be doing most of the work.

My bad should have clarified better, I'm keeping my Norman Laboratories as my mains.

Most sound pretty nice, seems like everyone praises those Norman Lab speakers.

I enjoy them a lot, they have awesome clarity and good bass. They really came alive when I got my Onkyo too.

Yea, I just turned 21 in November.
I'm good at guessing ages, often based on what kind of equipment people have. I'd also guess that the Norman Lab towers where a recent hand down from soneone you know, or you got them for really cheap at a yard sale, thrift shop, pawn shop. I'm pretty certain it's a hand down though, a good one though.

Yup, they were given to me by my dad. He bought them new back in the late 70's along with his Phase Linear Model 2000 Pre-Amp, Model 400 Amp, and Model 5000 Tuner. When we moved, my dad got a Sunfire Ultimate Receiver running through Def Tech 7001 mains, BPX/BP2X for surrounds, and CLR 3000 center. Mom didn't want the old Ten's in the living room so some Beta 50's went up there with the Phase Linear stuff and I got the Ten's.

I've had them for about 5 years now.
