I have a question on where to place the two speakers I am going to use for the kitchen/dining area of my house. I dont have a matching pair, what I have is one Sonance Virtuoso 832D and one 832DR. So same speakers used but one in ceiling and one in wall. Can an in ceiling speaker be mounted in wall?

I attached a picture with the size of the room, the the one along the top with a table and stove. The whole length of the top of the picture. It will be a mono signal going through each speaker so Im thinking I want one in the kitchen area one in the dining? Or what would be best to make it sound good almost anywhere you stand? Or not possible with this setup?

It will be a bit difficult to have even coverage in such a large area. Mono is a good idea because you won't have one channel from one speaker and the other from another speaker but for even coverage, you really should have more speakers. The dispersion from each is just not wide enough to make it seamless. With two speakers, the area immediately near each speaker will be pretty loud and by the time you move through the room, you'll hear many inconsistencies. Better to use more small speakers with in-ceiling enclosures and a known dispersion pattern.

Do you have a lighting plan yet? If you can show that, a better speaker layout can be recommended. Include any elevation changes in the ceiling, too.

I have added the lights to the picture. The black 4 in the kitchen are pot lights. The single red is pendant over sink and the two red are pendants over that counter and the green one in the middle and in the dining area i havent bought fixtures for yet.

I also have a pair of Virtuoso 831D in walls I could use. I was going to use them in my surround system but if they will work here better I will use them.

Would I beable to place the two 831D's in bigger dining area running a stereo signal that would sound with a single 832D in wall or 832DR in ceiling in the kitchen area? If I did that the left over single 832DR or 832D I didnt use I would use in the bathroom receiving a mono signal.

Or what could work?

What about having the in wall speakers up where the wall meets the ceiling built out in kind of a bulk head with them pointing down at a bit of an angle?

I didnt measure the lighting out exact but that is pretty close....

To be honest, I really prefer in-wall speakers when they're positioned for listening, either main/center/surround or only as the main speakers. For background and distributed audio. I like ceiling speakers because nothing has to be done in order to get the best sound because they're placed according to the spaces' use and traffic patterns. If a mono signal is to be sent, there's no problem with hearing everything but if the signal would be stereo, I prefer dual voice coil speakers or some kind of mono conversion at the amplifier. Doing an actual summing network is better than just using a Y cord, too. Not complex- it can be as simple as two resistors but the channel isolation is a good thing.
