Kindle paperwhite 3G as browser?

I was looking at a friend's paperwhite Kindle and really like the display and format as an ereader.

For me the big appeals are:
Screen resolution/contrast/lighting/quality
Very long battery life (1 month plus)
Free 3G service (no contract or monthly fees)
Less than $200

What I am wondering is if it can make a decent browser.
I can live with monochrome.
Amazon mainly talks about downloading books and music using 3G, they are pretty subdued about advertising it as a browser.
Can anyone comment on its ability for websurfing?

My wife wanted to like the Paperwhite, because she wanted a reader she could just throw in her purse, read it in the sub, and not worry about it. When we tried them we found the Paperwhites to be excruciatingly slow for everything, even books. We're too impatient to use it as a web browser. The Kindle too. The iPads just blow them away. I know several people with Android tablets and none of them are especially excited about the products, they just won't or can't pay Apple's prices. Having cross-shopped several tablets, IMHO the best combination of form factor, performance, user interface, and price is the iPad Mini.

Don't know about the Paperwhite readers but my Samsung android tablet is great for surfing the web, forums, music, movies, etc. Plus with Samsung making some new tablet annoucements shortly the current models should be on sale real soon.

KEW,
My wife wanted a Kindle but after we started doing some research, I got her a Nook Simple Touch and she loves it. It has no ads, it came with charger, long battery life, 1000's of free books, it can be 'jail broken' and turned into an Android tablet, and, if there are any problems, we go to Barnes & Noble. I think that alone may have been the biggest factor. Phone help leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

The best part though, it's $79.00
