If I was to buy a Kicker Solobaric and create my own sealed enclosure
being 4 ohms what kind of issues would i be facing when getting an amplifier for it.

15" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
SoloKon aluminum-treated composite cone with Santoprene surround
Cast-aluminum basket
Power range: 10-1000 RMS watts (500 watts per voice coil)
Peak power: 2000 watts
Frequency response: 18-100Hz
Sensitivity: 89.4dB
Mounting depth: 8-½"
Sealed box volume: 1.5-6.0 cubic feet
Ported box volume: 3.0-6.0 cubic feet

Any Resources on using Car audio Subs for home theater?

is my assumption that a sub is a sub is a sub They are all just pushing air completely off base?

Being dual 4ohm series it to 8 and you have no problems.

A 14x15 room will explode with a 15" in it BTW

A sealed enclosure will need a lot of power. They are not as efficient, but easier to tune and build. PE carries a 500 watt BASH amp that's on sale now for $159.

Normally, car subs may not go as low as drivers designed for serious subwoofer building - for music or movies. You'll get a lot more support in planning your sub if you select a driver designed for the purpose.

I would suggest a different driver. Square woofers have excessive THD from the corners, and Crutchfield has a deal going for some SWEET infinity drivers right now. Buy 1, get 1 free.

The Infinity Perfect driver linked is beyond reproach in technical performance, with distortion products at extremely low levels vs. almost all other drivers; it easily produces higher SPL with lower THD by substantial margins as compared to a Peerless XLS driver(a driver widely considered very linear), for example. Note the Buy 1 Get 1 special is unbeatable -- this speaker is discontinued -- it used to cost in the $250 range for each driver a couple of years ago(when this driver was in production). To exceed the performance of this driver appreciably, you would have to purchase a very expensive driver such as an Adire Tumult, JL Audio W7 or other such *super* driver. The 12" unit(Kappa Perfect 12.1) here will be about -3dB at 18 Hz, in a 4 cubic foot vented enclosure, for HT application reference. If the original poster wants extreme high SPL, he can simply use two of these in his HT subwoofer system. I can not imagine ever being able to come close to using the maximum output of a pair of these in a normal sized room for actual movie or music use.

Its all in the enclosure. I remember way back I built a small ported box tuned to around 35hz for 8in L7. I forgot what plate amp we used. But it was for a computer setup off of a pioneer receiver. I believe the fronts were a set of small JBL north ridge series.

The bass was insane. The room that it was in was pretty big and that sub had no problem filling it up. It was a good setup for parties/music..This was yearrsss agooo good times..:D
